Second report in January

Dear minasan,

This is my second report for PARE in January.
On January 15, I attend the lecture from Prof. Hanny Wijaya about utilization of natural sources and local wisdom in functional food innovation. That was a great lecture, and she also bring a lot of Indonesian food and drink for class. I felt like I was home, she gave us crackers, sambal, kecap, and also Indonesian typical drink (STMJ (susu, telur, madu, jahe) with ginger).

The day before the lecture, I had a discussion with Hanny Sensei and Hashidoko sense about my research, because as you know that I just have 1 month left for this program and I should finish my research here. Next month will be a busy month for me, I hope everything going well and I hope you will have a good time too. Ganbarou... ^^
On January 21, I had dinner with my lab mate in a soup kare restaurant. We honestly want to have a dinner in Indonesian restaurant, but the shopkeeper was sick on that day. So, we decided to go to a soup kare restaurant and also on January 14, I had dinner with my Korean friends in my dormitory. My Korean friends made some Korean food, and I also made Indonesian food too.

On January 25, I and another Indonesian student went into the Korean night. We presented as usually the traditional dance from Indonesia. We proud to be Indonesian, we can introduce our traditional dance while the other presenting the K-pop dance.

See you on the next report.

All about the first time

Dear all...

I will write my experience related to all about the first time. The first,  I eat okonomiyaki seafood with Sapporo and Hiroshima style. The interesting one is we cook it in teppanyaki. Maybe some of you (not from Japanese) did know about okonomiyaki and teppanyaki. I will briefly describe about it. The taste and its ingredients is almost same like "martabak" or "puyunghai".

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning "what you like" or "what you want", and yaki meaning "grilled" or "cooked". Okonomiyaki is mainly associated with the Kansai or Hiroshima areas of Japan, but is widely available throughout the country. Toppings and batters tend to vary according to region. Tokyo okonomiyaki is usually smaller than a Hiroshima or Kansai okonomiyaki.

Teppanyaki is a style of Japanese cuisini that uses an iron griddle to cook food. The word teppanyaki is derived from teppan, which means iron plate, and yaki, which means grilled, broiled, or pan-fried. In Japan, teppanyaki refers to dishes cooked using an iron plate, including steak, shrimp, okonomiyaki, yakisoba and monjayaki. Modern teppanyaki grills are typically propane-heated flat surface grills and are widely used to cook food in front of guests at restaurants. Teppanyaki grills are commonly confused with the hibachi barbecue grill, which has a charcoal or gas flame and is made with an open grate design. With a solid griddle type cook surface, the teppanyaki is more suitable for smaller ingredients, such as rice, egg, and finely chopped vegetables.

The second, I with Mana and some Indonesian friend watch orchestra in Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara. I was very excited to watch it because the curiosity. In Indonesia, usually I very often to listen the song of Gita who accompanied by Erwin Gutawa orchestra. So I thought classical music will be the same wherever in the world.

Thanks for read my post...

At last, the date I must go back to Japan is coming. For this three months, I seemed to forget small meaningless troubles and enjoyed myself. Honest speaking, the Thai language word I learned at first was “tired”. But I am feeling happy so I think it is no problem for something like study. However due to have various experiences, I didn’t decline everyone’s offer, which was so tired. And I went to various places to absorb Thai culture only to know its depth. Even if that is true, I thought I could feel happy and satisfied myself.
About my research field, I could manage to have the result because I took as many efforts as possible (real possibility). I had some troubles with growing the fungi because I didn’t get used to treat with creature. Originally I didn’t have any plan, which seemed to be one of the reasons. But since I could gain something I didn’t know, I could still gain the result. NTL, it may be small result. But I think challenge has the meaning.

Finally I’d like to appreciate for the program staffs. Thank you for giving me a free hand.

January is a special month for some soil science laboratory members including Hatano Sensei. Because on January 14th is Sensei birthday. A small party has been prepared by us; birthday cake, balloon and certainly present for him. We discussed in the morning about that party and decided to give a magnifying glass as a gift. Around 17:30 we invited Sensei to another laboratory that has been conditioned for small party. Hatano Sensei was very happy at that time and directly tried his present.

Happy birthday Hatano Sensei wish your life happy and success.

Thank you for reading my posting..C..U
