Lecture of "Sustainability VII" remind me PARE Program

So, I took one class of CENSUS, the Lectures that talk about"Sustainability VII".

Since the first topic about Plant Ecology from Kohyama Sensei it's already cought all my interest. And the class continue with others sparkling topics, such as: Ecosystem ecology, Nitrogen footprint, Watershed sustainability, GIS Analysis of ecosystem services, etc.

Actually this lecture had field trip schedule to Tomakomai Experimental Forest to observe directly about low temperature forest condition. Unfortunately, that program has been cancel because of the bad weather, and it was good, because there was a blizzard on that day, hmm,. If I'm not mistaken it's January 7th. I'm sure all Sapporo students saw that gorgeous phenomenon.

Yap,., I knew it's too bad that Program was cancel, but don't worry this Lecture can never stop to be rock n roll. At the end of the day, the topics getting hot and hotter, they were talked about Satellite remote sensing, Land change science, Winter ecology, Sustainability science, and the best part was,.,,. Discussion. Owh,., come on. You guys know how great this part is. It's brainstorming event. Since I got in PARE Program, this part of study is my favorite. Oh.. then.. When its come to discussion, It was fabulous, all of the student was so great and we had a Fabulous Discussion. Even if the blizzard still playing around outside, the class was hot and live. I feel like I just got back to PARE Program Class. It's totally remind me PARE Classes, PARE Friends, and of course.. PARE Topics. Hahahahahaha

I miss "PARE Program Class" a lot

I'm Attached On This Research

Konnichiwaaaaaaa~~~

So, this time I'd like to talk about my current research.
Being a part of Forest Entomology at IPB then luckily tansfered into Systematic Entomology at Hokkaido Univ. I am targeting myself to enrich my knowledge about insect more deeper, especially about molecular.
Focus on Boktor pest, as main problem in sengon plantation in Java, that cause reduce volume and quality of it's timber. Most disturbed stage of this beetles is larvae. I have collected his small-little-rubbery larve from some location in Java, and will analayse them about its genetic molecular.Ok,.,Ok,., you have no idea about this insect,., calm guys,., here they are~

(left) larvae and (right) bettles of Boktor Pest

Tell me that they're shape is not creepy as I told you before, but trust me, that their habit by feed gregariously caused death to a tree. Could you imagine how bad is that? how long that you will wait for a tree to reach those similar diameter??? That's Sengon's farmer worried about.

About these reseach itself, I am still in the middle to find the exact method itself, because I keep meet- up with unexpected result. I guess I still need much more "date" with my Lab.'s Units, such as Thermal Cycler, The Electrophoresis unit, Printgraph, some Centrifuge Machine, etc. I don't have much time, same as you guys who have the same troubles with your research.  Let's pray and dating more with our laboratorys' units. LOL. I hope We can finish these experiment by the end of this year.,,.,, hmmm,. Don't you think that it will be so sweet, guys??????  <3 <3 <3 Hahahaha

Indonesian Culture Night 2014..... Mission Completed!!!

This time, I would like to report you about Indonesian event that has been informed in last Yunita's blog.... Indonesian Culture Night 2014. For this time, I will especially talk about Angklung, one of  Indonesian traditional instrument, that almost Indonesian student of PARE Program participate to play those instrument.

Angklung is a musical instrument made out of two bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame. Angklung itself orignated from “angka” and lung”. Angka means “tone” and lung means “broken” or “lost”. So, angklung indicate as an incomplete tone, so it needs a rapidly repeating note to sound. Three or more angklung performers in an ensemble will play just one note and together complete melodies are produced. Angklung is popular throughout Southeast Asia, but originated from Indonesia and it has been used and played by the Sundanese since the ancient times.

At the time of occurrence, the actual musical instrument Angklung regarded as sacred because of its presence to accompany magic-spell on a certain rituals. After times, angklung  instrument change into diatonic scale. Some sources said, Angklung  received a more international attention since 1938 by Daeng Soetigna, from Bandung. Others sources also said the recognition of the existence of Angklung was first recognized  by a great musician Igor Hmel Nitsky, an origin australia on 1955, and has been used for educational and entertainment purposes. On November 18, 2010,  UNESCO designated angklung as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity as part of the acknowledgment, UNESCO insisted that Indonesia preserve their heritage.
