Real sign that winter has come.
While we were in busy for doing research and coming to the class as my mine daily activities, the great snow came suddenly and sent us a message that long winter was recently began. It is real sign that my snow boat and big coat has to be taken out from my closet. It is also a symptom that I need to put my bicycle in garage sooner. Nevertheless it is amazing moment for me as someone never sees snow directly before. “It is nice to see but it is not nice to touch” that my first impression of snow in my head. It is a little bit different from my imagination. However, it is so incredible.

Another amazing experience getting in last two weeks was to get experience operating analytical instrumentation such as SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and BET by myself. It really improved my hard skill and absolutely that was beneficial for my research. Apart from the fact that was not easy to adapt my laboratory system, I am really lucky to get these great experiences. Let improve our spirit… keep fighting ^_^

My name is Osaki Shohei.

Hello, every one!

My name is Osaki Shohei. Osaki is my family name and Shohei is my first name. I’m a first year master degree student in graduate student of agriculture, Hokkaido University.

I arrived at Kasetsart University Kamphaeng Sean campus on 31 October. I was going to come here on 30 October, but I couldn’t come because of the airplane maintenance.

I live at the international dormitory of Kasetsert University Kamphaeng Sean campus. In the next day I bought daily necessities at the supermarket near Kamphaeng Sean campus.

On November 2 and 3, I went to the temple because I participate in the Buddhism initiation of the faculty of my laboratory. The contents are sitting meditation, walking and midnight sitting meditation. I can’t explain the Buddhism initiation because I’m not familiar with Thai Buddhism. I couldn’t take part in the midnight sitting meditation because of my short concentration. I couldn’t pass the first sitting meditation. Though this was regrettable, Thai Buddhism activities, buildings and so on were new for me and I enjoyed them.

In the last week, I proceeded, and take the introduction of class and discussion about my experiment. On the other hand, I went to other temple and outdoor markets in the campus. In the outdoor markets, I bought a T-shirt and foods.

I enjoyed my life in Thailand. But I became sick on Friday in the last week. Although I don’t think I’m tired, I might become tired than my expectation. So I  postponed

Now I’m fine. So I started my experiments and lecture in earnest.

Thank you,

Osaki Shohei.

First Snow This Morning

As tropical person, for my whole life, I never seen snow before except in the movie.

But this morning, for the first time, I see snow raining from the sky. It was beautiful and making me cannot stop seeing at it. At least this is the snow I expected. In friday last week, the forecast said that there will be rain with snow that day. But it turns out that it was raining like usual, but the different thing is that it is raining with ice and it rains very heavily, I thought that the whole winter will be like that, but I hope not.

Anyway, this is my update

See you at the next post,

Dewa

1st Report of Nov 2013

Hi all…
I want to share my activities at the last two weeks. On 27th Oct 2013, I and fifteen friends from Indonesia participated in Ishikari World Festival which was held by NPO Ishikari to introduce foreign country’s culture to Ishikari Citizen. The event was attended by eighteen countries and Indonesia was one of them. The Indonesian booth displayed traditional music instrument “angklung”, Indonesian food, wayang (a type of puppet theatre), etc.

On 28th Oct 2013, I and two friends from IPB, two from ITB, and two from UGM attended PARE Introduction Program for Summer School in Indonesia and Thailand. The event was held in the Centennial hall of Hokkaido University.

On 3rd Nov 2013, I and some Moslem friends from Indonesia were invited by Mr. Sahat (Indonesia Businessman who live and work in Sapporo Japan) to celebrate his moving house to the new one. We were delighted for the invitation because he serves Indonesia traditional food such as rendang (a curry-like meat dish).

Before we go to his new house, I had taken time to take some photos with the tree in autumn season as background.

On 9th Nov 2013, I was invited by Prof. Noriyuki Tanaka (my sensei in Census) to the welcome party in Kushiyaki Oden "Kon" Ekimae-ten. I had a chance to taste some Japanese foods, such as sashimi, miso soup etc. Before we begin to eat, Nori sensei gave an opening speech as welcome remarks. During dining we also had some discussions with each other, and I felt very honored when I was given the chance to deliver speech as new member in our Lab. All of them ordered Beer or Sake for drink, and you know what?! Only I as a Moslem drank orange juice and mineral water… Really, it’s a memorable experience..:)

Warm Regards,
Ari Suharto

EXPERIENCE BEFORE WINTER SEASON ..... :)

Finally, I had a welcome party in my laboratory. LOL. Even though I already stay in my laboratory almost two months but two last weeks Sensei held welcome party. Yeah, because we have to wait another internship student from Poland. At the welcome party, we learned how to say " I love you" in many languages such as Indonesia, Bangladesh, China, Poland and of course Japan.  I wish I can show you the picture but it's okay.

As you know when October, 28th all of the professor  from PARE participant come to Hokkaido University and also with my professor. Of course they have to meet our supervisor in Hokudai and also we have to brief presentation about our research and study plan in here. In that week I feel a little bit tired because I have to prepare so many presentation. But, after that I got holiday and I went to
中島公園 (Nakajima Park) with my friends

Yeah, they are my friends. They come from China and Philippine. After that we have welcome housing party in one of my friends and end up stay there until 1 AM. LOL. Lately, the weather easily change so we have to take care our healthy and my Sensei always says like that if I want to go dormitory. Yeah, that's true because this weekend winter season will start. We have to prepare anything. LOL. See you next time when most all of you share about winter experience....^^
